What to do if…

Lost in the Medina

Don't panic. Walk downhill — water flows toward the main streets. Ask any shopkeeper for 'Jemaa el-Fna' and follow their direction. Or use the Elfna map.

Theft or pickpocketing

Go to the tourist police (dial 19). File a report — you'll need it for insurance. Your riad can help translate.

Food poisoning

Common, usually mild. Pharmacy can give you medication. Stay hydrated. If it's severe (fever, blood), go to a private clinic.

Dehydration / heat stroke

Get out of the sun immediately. Drink water with salt and sugar. Pharmacies sell rehydration salts (ORS). If someone faints, call 15.

Aggressive harassment

Walk into the nearest shop or cafe. Tell the owner. Moroccans take hospitality seriously — they will help. If serious, call 19.

Lost passport

Contact your consulate immediately. They can issue emergency travel documents. File a police report first.
