Packing Guide

Essentials for Marrakech. Pack light — the Medina has everything you forgot.

Modest clothing
Shoulders and knees covered, especially near mosques
Comfortable walking shoes
Cobblestones everywhere. Skip the flip-flops
Small bills (10, 20, 50 MAD)
Get from a bank ATM. Vendors never have change
Sunscreen & hat
UV is intense, even in winter

GPS drains your phone fast with weak signal

Medina is loud at night — call to prayer starts at 5am

SIM Card & Connectivity

Buy a local SIM at the airport or any phone shop. Bring your passport. Takes 5 minutes.

Maroc Telecom (IAM)~30-50 MAD for 5GB
Coverage: Best coverage overall

Largest network. Best in rural areas. Buy at any IAM shop or airport.

Inwi~30-40 MAD for 5GB
Coverage: Good in cities

Cheapest data plans. Strong 4G in Marrakech. Look for Inwi branded shops.

Orange Maroc~30-50 MAD for 5GB
Coverage: Good in cities

Familiar brand. Good roaming deals if you have Orange in Europe.

WiFi Tips

  • Most riads have free WiFi (sometimes slow).
  • Cafes in Guéliz generally have faster connections than the Medina.
  • Download offline maps before you arrive — GPS works without data.
